Software update comes for Droid Pro, Gingerbread Missing


After the Gingerbread release its not much the sought but you can a software update for the Motorola Droid Pro. The corporate-friendly Android users could be made easier to use though and also it adds some solid features and bug fixes.

You can get the update on your Motorolahttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif Droid Pro by hitting the Systems buttons and going to “System update” for an over-the-air update. You can also find instructions for side-loading it here.


While it’s not a major update, you will get:

· Improved audio on voice calls.

· Improved stability and performance.

· User interface display now refreshes when user switches from GSM/UMTS communication to Global Mode.

· Device now prepends 011 to Country Code to send SMS messages.

· Global Mode no longer resets when connecting to a USB charger.

· Visual Voice Mail now detects airplane mode while Wi-Fi is active.

· Prompt return to full screen brightness after wake-up.

· Upgraded Bluetooth firmware.

· Improved interoperability with Microsofthttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif Internet Application Gateway (IAG) configurations.

· Device string format for Exchange changed to include device name and version number.

· Upgrade to Google applications Release 7.
Other Improvements:

· Improved audio during voice calls.

· Reduced user interface lock-ups

But, the real question is: where is Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Motorola Droid Pro and the company’s other devices? The high-powered Atrix 4G is running Froyo to be even, while that’s not a bad version of the platform by any means, still many users want the latest version of the software now.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread hit in December of 2010 and you have to wonder if Google should work with its partners more to get these updates out earlier. Xperia Arc could be seen landing with the Gingerbread but we may actually see the next version of Android at Google I/O before that hits U.S. shelves.
