Hey all Droid X users there’s a good news for you. An OTA update is coming up for your phone which will allow you to play with Android Gingerbread. Verizon hasn’t confirmed this yet, but hearing about an update file going around for Droid X, we can assure you that this is not just a shot in air. Gingerbread is all set to arrive for you.
The update will bring version 2.3.3, the latest version of Android for the phone and you will definitely enjoy the difference.
For getting the latest version you need to be on the stock software, but if you don’t have it, then you need to go back to version 2.3.340 before you step ahead.
If you believe in the words of Computer World, then those guys are saying that currently Verizon is not going to provide any kind of OTA update
For installing Gingerbread on your Droid X, follow the steps given below:
We assume that you are on the stock Droid X ROM 2.3.340 and you will not come back to us with a bad mood if anything goes wrong.

- Download the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update file from this link

- Rename that file to update.zip
- Now connect your Phone with your PC and in the Autoplay window select “Open Folder View Files”
- Now Copy that update.zip file and place it inside the root folder on your phone.
- Now plug out your phone from your PC and Power it off
- Now Power on your phone by holding Home and the Power button. When you see that Triangle splashes on the screen press the search button.
- Using the volume rocker buttons navigate to Install update.zip and select the file.
Wait for a while and you have your cup of Gingerbread on your Droid X, Enjoy.
