Motorola to give its unlocked bootloader soon.

Proud, he can’t put down. Well folks, this Aussie fellow, first name Irwin, bought a Moto Atrix 4G in anticipation of the manufacturer living up to its word-that it would offer an unlocked bootloader. (The company promised a developer-friendly solution on Facebook in January, but controversy erupted when a Motorola rep commented on an Atrix video on YouTube, telling people interested in this to look somewhere else.)

So several times Proud contacted the manufacturer, petitioned the company about it, and finaly a response was given:
We completely understand the operator requirement for security to the end user, and as well, want to support the developer communities desire to use these products as a developmentplatform. It is our intention to enable the unlockable/relockable bootloader currently found on Motorola XOOM across our portfolio of devices starting in late 2011, where carriers and operators will allow it.

Is this for real? Yes, says AusDroid. It reached out to the company’s North Asia division and got confirmation. But before you celebrate, note what the last part of the message says: “…where carriers and operators will allow it.” So like the statement says it could come later this year. Bu if it doesn’t, Moto might be saying, “don’t blame us.”
