Sony Ericsson launches Xperia Pro and Neo V in India

Sony Ericsson has officially announced two new Android 2.3 Gingerbread phones for the Indian market – the Xperia Pro, and Xperia Neo V. While the Neo V has been available online and on shelves for a while, the announcement marks its official entry into the market. However, official pricing has yet to be revealed. For now, expected prices range around Rs. 22,000 for the Xperia Pro when it hits stores next week, and Rs. 17,500 for the Neo V as it stands right now.

The devices have been launched with a special data plan from Airtel, and those who wish to avail of it will get 500MB of free data per month for three months, and 200 minutes of mobile TV for two months.

Both the Xperia Pro and Neo V bear the same 3.7-inch LED-backlit LCD (480x854 pixel) display with the Mobile Bravia Engine, and are powered by the same Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset with a 1GHz processor, and Adreno 205 GPU. Both devices also have the same 1,500 mAh lithium-polymer battery. Also common, is the amount of storage built-in, at 320MB user available capacity, expandable up to 32GB via microSD (a card will probably also be bundled with both devices).

The Xperia Pro is a horizontal sliding QWERTY device, bearing an 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash, 3D sweep panorama, and 720p HD video recording. Other features include a 2MP front-facing camera, and a document editor.

The Xperia Neo V has a 5MP autofocus camera instead, with LED flash, 3D sweep panorama, and 720p HD video recording. It has a front-facing VGA camera, and a document viewer pre-installed.
