This year the Mac version of Skype got a number of updates. It seems like Microsoft is paying some attention towards the Mac Users also. Well, today Microsoft released yet another update for Skype’s Mac Version. It got updated to version 5.8.

Skype for Mac 5.8 - Updates

Skype 5.8 doesn’t have much more to do with. There are a few changes on the basic framework. The biggest thing in the bunch was, Skype for Mac is now compatible with OS X Mountain Lion, which is the latest version of Apple’s OS. It hasn’t hit the shores yet but is all set and can arrive in the coming weeks.

Some more features have arrived with Skype 5.8 for Mac. The Contact Monitor Window is back. The contact list window only showed online contacts, with no way to resize it. Now, the Contact Monitor displays online contacts, all Skype contacts, Mac address book contacts, or both Skype and address book contacts. The Window can be resized as well.

Compatibility with users making mobile calls has been improved. While talking from Skype from Mac to someone using Skype on iOS or Android, Skype for Mac will properly re-orient the video calling window when mobile users switch between portrait and landscape. Screen sharing features have also improved for those who pay for premium subscriptions.

Now you will be able to continue the video conversation even when you want to send a file to the other end. The new update lets you share photos with your video callers without disturbing the conversation.

According to Skype blog, some more updates will go live on cloud soon. For now, Skype for Mac 5.8 is available for download.
