Apple has been on the top spot since the launch of App Store but things seem changing now and Android market has crossed Apps store applications in terms of free Applications and now is heading towards over taking in number of applications too. The Android Market has 134 thousand free apps on its virtual shelves, while the Apple App Store for iPhone offers 121 thousand free apps. Still, the iOS store has the lead in total count, having about three times as many paid apps as the Android store.
Ipad has around 75 thousand Application , and 30% of them are free application that is around 34,000.The Paid Applications are getting costlier and application purchases are declining. The iPhone and iPad sections of the App Store combined hold 367 thousand apps and they are still growing. The Android Market is expected to overtake it in total apps soon – in five months or so, by Distimo’s estimates.
On the other hand Blackberry Apps are expected to take over Ovi Store By nokia around next month end and Microsoft phone 7 is also expected to overtake Ovi Suit too. Many Application developers have started developing Multi Platform Applications, not just IOS but Android, Ovi, App World and the rest. This also chips away at the IOS advantage.
