Opera’s new version has arrived, bringing some great improvements to couple of browsers great features, Opera Turbo and the Speed Dial.
This updated version of opera promises to improve the quality of browsing.
Google’s new open WebP Page formats is used in this new version rather than JPEG. Since opera is using this new format it has added support for the format in the browser. This format is not that popular. It is not supported in any major image editor or viewer either. This format can take off any time as it supports a new open format. You can check out gallery of WebP images here.
The working of Opera’s speed dial is another big change. Opera added support for more speed dial layouts in its latest version though it’s not an ultimate upgrade. Also it supports unlimited entries, and the layout fluidly accommodates any new entries you add rather than displaying an inflexible grid with some missing entries. Moreover you can zoom in or out of the speed dial and entries will flexibly take its original layout.
Displaying thumbnails is another update to the speed dial. What should and what shouldn’t be displayed is another feature of Opera for website authors. This thumbnail can be changed as desired as it’s not fixed. It can provide dynamic content, pulling out even animated content making your account more personal.
Opera 11.10 also features improved support for web standards including CSS3 multi-column layouts, WOFF font support, CSS3 gradients and more. Automated Installation and Plug-in detection is also one of the opera qualities. So if a website requires the flash player and you don’t have it installed opera will automatically download and install it. Opera 11.50 a step ahead is now already available. This version is expected to finally bring hardware acceleration to the Opera browser, and will feature an HTML5 parser, which is one of the most important parts of the new web standard.
