Drawbacks of HTC One X

HTC One X came into the market as the first quad-core phone. Powered by a Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core processor, HTC One X break all the shackles when it came to performance and multitasking. Not just quad-core power but HTC One X has leaned into the trend of IPS display which are far better than the Super AMOLED’s. One X is also made for the high-end street photographers. A couple of innovative camera features are introduced by HTC on this phone. But here we are not talking about all the plus points of HTC One X.

HTC One X will be competing with Samsung Galaxy S III. In terms of the market grab, Samsung is definitely ahead of HTC. It’s definite that Samsung will win the race in the sales. But HTC is worth a shot too. HTC One X is an excellent phone to have, but we figured out some of its Drawbacks which might create some kind of hesitations in your mind before you buy this one.

HTC One X - Drawbacks

Micro SIM Slot

The Micro SIM slot is located at the top face of the phone. It resides just beside the 3.5mm jack. It will difficult to pull out the Micro SIM tray. For dealing with this you need some sharp nails. We were short of nails so we used a pin to pull out the Micro SIM tray.

Sound

HTC One X is powered by Beats Audio but still if you are a music lover, we would suggest you to look out for something else. The sound quality is clear but you won’t get good volumes and bass levels in this phone.

Camera

The Quality of the images snapped using the camera of the phone was excellent, but still we have seen such kind of quality (even better than this) in Nokia N8. We were expecting something even bigger with the camera of a Camera proud phone.

You won’t find any dedicated camera button on this phone. So how can you tap the phone when you are 1000 meters above the ground (pointing to that One X ADVERTORIAL?). That’s only for professionals. You will end up murdering your phone.

In the dark conditions the autofocus of the camera suffers a bit. You need tap the screen a couple of times before you take the final shot.

After recording a video we figured out that the recording started after the 4 seconds we touched the record button. There was a delay of four seconds in the start of video recording after we pressed the record button.

Battery

Battery of HTC One X is a big disappointment. Under a regular use the battery of the phone lasted for just 16 hours. We heard from one of our friend that under a moderate use the battery drained out in less than 10 hours. HTC did roll out a software update which promises to sort out the battery issues. After the software update the battery backup got raised by 6 more hours under a regular usage. But still this isn’t enough.

(Our regular usage: 1 hour of Music, Around 3 hours of Web Browsing over a Wi-Fi Network and Angry Birds for 45 minutes. Around 60 text messages and 40 minutes of Voice conversation on a 3G Network)

Price

The initial price for the unlocked version of the phone in US was $799 which is way too above the expectation. Now the unlocked version of the phone will cost you around $700 (with warranty) which is also disappointing. Not just US, One X sales are also affected in the Indian markets because of its hefty price tag i.e. INR 37500. We know that it’s a Quad Core Phone, but anything around INR 34000 (initially) was acceptable.

So these were the Drawbacks of HTC One X. Other than the things HTC One X outperformed in each section.
